The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Wednesday has announced that it has included Bajaj Auto, Bharat Petroleum, and State Bank of India (SBI), and 3 tata group companies among the 25 stocks eligible for optional T+0 settlement starting from March 28.
Earlier this month, the capital markets regulator implemented a framework to introduce the beta version of the T+0 trade settlement cycle, initially on an optional basis. Initially, this option will be accessible for a restricted group of 25 scrips and with a limited number of brokers.
Additionally, the adoption of the T+0 settlement system has the potential to offer investors increased trading prospects and decreased settlement risks, industry experts noted.
It is important to highlight that the T+0 settlement will be offered as an option for the designated 25 stocks and will only apply to trades conducted between 9:15 am and 1:30 pm, as per the circular issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on March 21.
To prevent market distortions resulting from price divergences for shares traded in both settlement cycles, trading within the T+0 cycle will be subject to a price band of 100 basis points above or below the prices observed under the T+1 cycle, in accordance with BSE regulations.
